To call to remembrance Marcelo H. Del Pilar’s contribution in the 1896 Revolution, the municipality of Bulakan, Bulacan, the town where Del Pilar was born and grew up with, held a program of commemoration on the hero’s 117^th death anniversary happened July 4, 2013, 8:00 in the morning at the Marcelo H. Del Pilar Shrine, Bulakan, Bulacan.

It is indeed a  great honor for the province of Bulacan to have a hero like Del Pilar. He led the La Solidaridad after it was handed to him by Graciano Lopez-Jaena. He was recognized to be the ‘Father of Philippine Journalism’ for the reason that he pursued to remain the existence of writing for La Solidaridad despite of his sufferings in Madrid, Spain until in his very last breath. Del Pilar is a hero through his pen. His works inspired the revolutionaries like Bonifacio to continue struggling of resistance against Spanish colonizers and made the Spaniards to shudder in fear through his works. He died of tuberculosis 2 years before the country’s declaration of independence.
