Professor Kwesi Yankah launched his book titled The Pen at Risk, Spilling My Little Beans, on August 30, , at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The Pen at Risk, Spilling My Little Beans is a memoir that sheds light on the life experiences of the former minister of state in charge of tertiary education, as a columnist during the era of the military regime.
In an interview with the media, Professor Yankah said that he was inspired to write the book to give an account of the turbulent times in the past compared to contemporary times.
“Since I was 27, I have been in the public domain as far back as when I started writing my column for The Catholic Standard and these are times when the press was openly not free. Everybody knew it, so we had to hide under pseudonyms and the column that I wrote for about three years during the military regime of Acheampong through Akufo and Rawlings was called “Abosam fire man.

Kwesi Yankah is a humanities scholar of international repute, (former) professor of linguistics, public intellectual, and university administrator. He is a product of Winneba Secondary School, University of Ghana and Indiana University, USA. At Legon, he held several positions including Dean of Students, Head of Linguistics Department, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Pro-Vice Chancellor in charge of academic and student affairs.
As an academic, Yankah has several award winning books to his credit, including the Esther Kinsley award by Indiana University for his outstanding doctoral dissertation, the first by an African student. In , he was honored by the Ghana Book Development Council with the Ghana Book award; and in his formidable book entitled, Okyeame: Speaking for the Chief, also attracted the Gold Book award by the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
